Bev Mannes from Clayton, GA  -  3-D Flowers

This is a photo taken at the Bascom gallery show. People love this quilt and it will be in the garden at UGA and I'll have it with me that day. I'm also going to borrow Barb Pailloz's quilt I made for the last challenge and will probably have more made by then.
I made my first quilt about 40 years ago and have been quilting seriously since we moved to Clayton in 1997. I am a member of Mountain Laurel Quilters Guild and participate in three bees. I also do liturgical sewing.

February Calendar 2012

February 23 Regular Meeting: Finger Pin Cushions and Pillowcases !!

Ann Humphries will not be at the meeting on Thursday, 2/23; therefore, we will not be having a formal program after the general meeting.  If each of you will bring several 4" x 4" scraps of cloth, different colors of thread and a needle, I will be teaching how to make finger pin cushions.  These are really cute, are handy and make great gifts.  I will bring the stuffing for them.  Also, I will bring a pattern for a very pretty and unique pillowcase that also make great gifts.  I will bring fabric already cut for the pillowcase to show how it is assembled which is sort of confusing the first time you make.  I will also bring a finished pillowcase for you to see.
Hope to see you there!  Ruth

Also, please remember to bring your pink slip for the TRRBE sign-up if you have not already turned it in. If you need more information, Ruth will have that.

Quilt-Jacking ---Get the Word Out!

Several of the blogs I read posted this today, so I'm passing it along to all of you. Please copy this picture and pass this along to any quilt group you belong to and post it on your blog and FB page.

Missing, possibly stolen quilt...

Please pass the word!

Dear Quilting Friends,

I am writing on behalf of, Sharon Schlozhauer. Her quilt, “Really ‘Wild’ Flowers! Second Season”, went missing after the Houston Quilt Festival closed, most likely on Monday, Nov. 7. I'm sure we can only imagine Sharon's heartbreak over loosing this amazing prize winning quilt.

The quilt is 62" x 64.5".

Perhaps if the quilting community reaches out through their contacts, the quilt can be recovered. If you have any information that might help in finding Sharon's quilt, relay the information to Sharon at her email address: myfaithfirst@comcast.net.

If you would like to see some of Sharon's other amazing work, go to her web site:

http://www.sharonlschlotzhauer.com

Lyn Leary checked this out herself and received a personal note back from Sharon:
It is sadly true. I’m heartbroken. I would appreciate you putting it on your blog, and for others to do the same in hopes that I may get my quilt back. It was not a shipping error, it never made it to the FedEx office.
Here’s the basics: “Really ‘Wild’ Flowers! Second Season”, 62” x 64.5” went missing after the IQA Houston show in Texas – probably on November 7th. Please contact Sharon if you see this quilt or have any information that might lead to the recovery of it. She is offering a cash reward for the safe return of her quilt – no questions asked.
Thank you so much.
The more networking, the better – thank you Lyn,
~ Sharon
